Usually, its the parents that are watching their kids, beaming with pride at each one of them. Whether a sporting event, a graduation, or award, I’ve enjoyed having parents that are proud of me at every step along the way.
This time, it was my turn to be proud. My father retired! What a huge honor, to have a retirement ceremony thrown in your honor! He gave over 30 years of his life to the United States Navy, and it was such an honor to see all the kudos and accolades that deservedly came his way on this night. His friends and family gathered to enjoy the night, and he received a number of really awesome awards and tributes. My favorite was a flag that had been flown over the US Capital Building, in his honor.
