I love that I get to photograph so many different occasions in life. Family pictures are something that will be around for generations to come and it is awesome that my job is to capture those images!

Hi everyone, I wanted to take sometime to introduce myself, my name is Eder Escamilla and I am a new member of the Bauman Photographers team.

I had the pleasure of getting to know the team through the internship program this past summer. I started in mid May and worked as an intern through October. The photography internship program was the best wedding photography education I could have asked for. It was a great way for me to learn all the different things that about a wedding studio from technical, artistic, and business points of views. It was also great learning from a team with such great personalities. Its never a dull moment at the Bauman Studio.

I am excited about having the opportunity to work with this studio, I could not say enough good things about these guys down here. Their upbeat approach to the work that they do creates personalized products that keep brides smiling.

In the coming months I look forward to contributing to the work that captures couples most special moments. I am going to be the full-time second shooter for the studio and taking on some weddings of my own.

I am also going to be taking care of the photography needs of the vendors that we work with at weddings. So if you are a coordinator, florist, DJ, makeup artist, or coordinator of a venue, please don’t hesitate to ask me for any images from a wedding or anything else that we can help you with.

As you know, Bronson and Jared are in New Orleans shooting a wedding. I had the privilege of waking up at 5:30 to take them to the airport on Wednesday, and then headed into the studio a little early. Usually when the guys are out of town things run pretty smoothly. This time I think the studio manager gods were angry with me, because all hell broke loose about 30 minutes after Jared and Bronson got on the plane.

To document the madness that was the Bauman Photographers studio this week, I hired our wonderful Crew photographer John Yao.

Not joking – this is when I was on the phone with Jared taking down the information I needed to call the New Orleans Police Department (I won’t ruin the story – I am sure the guys will post on that later.)

Our dear intern Laura had to come in 2 extra days this week to finish a project because the computer freaked out on her! This is us ready to karate chop the computer and show it who’s boss.

All in all, a very eventful week. Thank goodness everyone will be back on Monday!

Jacob Paul Willis. Former intern, fellow Disney fan, wedding photographer assistant and 2nd shooter, interested in being set up with a cool girl, base player in “the band”, album workflow specialist, friend. Here’s the interview!

Q: How did you hear about Bauman Photographers, and what made you decide to intern for us?
A: Well, my first memory of Bauman Photographers is seeing Bronson at PLNU in the Wiley Hall box (Pt. Loma RA humor...). He had just gotten a brand new 70-200 lens, and he let me hold it. When I saw them doing yearbook pictures for PLNU, I asked if they needed interns. They said “Yes! Call us in December!” and that was it.

Q: How awkward was it for you that Jared said he wanted to set you up with Dayna and then had you drive with her, alone, all the way up to Disneyland?
A: Given that Dayna had a very committed relationship she was involved in, I diffused the awkwardness by talking about this aforementioned highly involved relationship.

Q: Favorite memory from the internship days?
A: Probably can’t say the phrase on the blog. (let’s just say there was a misunderstanding on Kristin’s part as to certain gang related phrases and what they really mean…) Other than that, it would be somewhere between when I spilled the box of DVD’s on the floor, or when I had to rivet 1,000 plus bridal show booklets within 2 days. Q: You have mentioned wanting to start your own business, do you know what type of business you are interested in?
A: Wedding photography.

Q: So, your roommate is getting married, you are a senior at a Christian college (ring by spring, anyone?) and you work in the wedding industry. Are you ever just sick of weddings and people always talking about them? Or do you already have yours planned down to the 1st dance?
A: Well, minus the girl, I have a lot of great ideas for my wedding day. I want to have a Coldstone bar instead of a wedding cake!

Q: What do you plan on doing with your degree?
A: I would like to get my MBA, and mostly just be in the wedding photography industry.

Q: NorCal or SoCal?
A: CenCal. Fresno, baby! (gross!)

Q: Favorite episode of The Office?
A: Oooh, probably, hold on, I’m racking my brain. Sexual Harassment or Diversity Day.

Today I get to interview our fabulous summer intern Dayna. She is smart, friendly, talented, cute, and yes boys, she’s taken.

What does an internship at Bauman Photographers REALLY look like?
Editing, putting the gear away, filing. Oh, and I get to go to Disneyland.

How did you decide you were interested in doing photography, and why did you choose us?
I became interested in photography because I liked taking pictures, so it was kind of an accident. I chose you guys because this is the coolest studio ever. (obviously)

After working with us for a summer, do you still think you’ll want to pursue photography as a career? What if you were working with us full time, all the time?
Well, after seeing Jared and Bronson’s meltdowns and crazy spells, running around like chickens with their heads cut off, I’m still 100% interested.

Best day of the internship so far?
A magazine cover shoot I got to go along with at the Keating Hotel. I was dubbed “light girl.” Oh, and Disneyland.

Favorite homeless man moment? (side note – for those who do not know this, our studio is downtown and the alley that a lot of us park in is also home to many a happy homeless man).
When I walked in on the Annual 2007 Homeless Convention that was happening behind my car, or almost running over the man that was sleeping under my tire.

Are you willing to give up the recipe for your amazing cookies?
Absolutely!

How much would someone have to pay you to try to Octopus Salad at Mimmo’s?
A LOT. $50 per bite at least.

Best decision you’ve ever made?
Going to Westmont. (Our team includes alum from Point Loma, UCSD, and Gordon as well! Go school spirit!)

If you could pick one word to describe yourself, what would it be?
Hot. Because I am.
