For Emmeline and Randy’s San Diego engagement session I got to go to one of my favorite beaches. There are so many great locations to shoot around The Hotel Del Coronado! I had an awesome time with Emmeline and Randy because they couldn’t stop laughing and enjoying one another. I love that my couples always bring so much joy and energy to the photographs!

In searching for today’s detail to share I came across a wedding that Bronson shot last year at the beautiful Pala Mesa Resort. At this wedding every little detail coordinated and matched making it impossible to pick out just one detail from the wedding so I am giving you more of a snap shot of the whole wedding.

Actually I had to start with the engagement pictures because even those ended up matching the wedding. Melissa and James did their session in the Saleen factory and one of the most eye catching cars in the pictures was this bright orange mustang. I am not sure if this picture gave them inspiration for the rest of the wedding or if this was planned in coordination of how Melissa had been envisioning things for their wedding but this color scheme of orange and pink along with fancy cars was the theme for the entire wedding.

From the bridesmaid dresses, bouquets, and groomsmen ties…

to the decor for the reception there was a pop of pink or orange everywhere you looked.

And the fancy cars came back into play with the naming of each table.

As it got dark the beautiful tent turned orange and pink with the up-lighting provided by Pala Mesa.


And the cake brought it all together with the bright colors and a wild design done by the French Gourmet, topped with of course…

I love this San Diego engagement session! Emily and Tim went to college with me at Point Loma Nazarene University and I am so excited to be shooting their wedding. This is actually the first of two engagements sessions that I am going to shoot for Emily and Tim. We started at Balboa Park and then moved downtown near the Gaslamp. Emily and Tim were such a natural couple when it came showing their emotion and excitement. Their second engagement session is happening in a couple of weeks and I am antsy to get out and shoot some more. They are getting married on October 31st at the Rancho Bernardo Inn and I’m sure it is going to be the best Halloween ever!

Engagement sessions are a fun way to get to know your photographer and feel a little more comfortable in front of the camera…I was really nervous about mine but ended up having a blast! I think one of my favorite wedding details is putting engagement pictures into an engagement album guestbook.

The engagement album pictured above is one that is exclusive to Bauman Photographers. It is similar to that of a leather journal and is handmade by artisans in Central America.

This is Rachel and Adam, and I still have their wedding photos to post (gorgeous wedding!!!!!). Soon, soon. I couldn’t skip their engagement session – it was way too fun!
Rachel and Adam live a mere few blocks from our studio, so Little Italy was a natural choice for their engagement session. At sunset, we also traveled up to Wind an Sea beach for some sunset pictures on the beach.
I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Rachel for the last few years as a vendor in the wedding industry. She worked at L’Auberge for a few years, and then recently took over as owner of Bliss Events, a local wedding coordinating business. We’ve done several events with her as the coordinator, and her and her team do an amazing job! When her and Adam came and met with me about shooting their wedding, I knew it was going to be a good one. It lived up to its expectations – I’ll post the wedding images soon!

I met Jenelle at Karey’s wedding – she was a bridesmaid. Her and Anthony put together a really gorgeous event, and we did their engagement session at Balboa Park. Always a favorite of mine, we tried some new things and really had a beautiful day to work with. Anthony kept telling me how much he didn’t really like having his picture taken, but I’ve got to say – the guy’s a rockstar on camera! I guess its easy when you’ve got a beautiful girl next to you! How cute are they? Annett and Ben are a fantastic couple that met while working together at a college. Having lived downtown for awhile, it seemed a natural fit for us to do their engagement session downtown – starting off at Petco Park! We spent some time at the San Diego Padres stadium, and then walked around the Gaslamp. Their wedding will be at the Darlington House in September :)

I shoot a pretty decent number of engagement sessions at Balboa Park each year. Its such a gorgeous location, and there really is so much variety to choose from. For some reason, this photo session really stands out as one of my favorites. I went to college with Asa at UCSD, which is where him and Cristina met. They are a very sweet couple and a lot of fun to be around. Asa has this big, ominous presence, and yet is the softest, sweetest guy to Cristina. I’m really looking forward to their wedding in a few weeks!

Becca and Ben are one of those really cute couples that are really comfortable with each other. They both live in New York City, and are had their wedding here in San Diego where Becca grew up. Actually, coincidentally, Becca and Megan (Bronson’s wife) went to high school together, which we didn’t realize until we started shooting together.
We went to Mission Beach for their engagement session and had a blast. These images went on to be on the Martha Stewart TV Show – quite the honor!!!! Many of you might remember when they were on a few months ago. We’re in the middle of editing their wedding pictures (fantastic wedding) and I’ll post some of those soon!
