It’s official, this has got to be the best place to shoot in San Diego! Kelsey and Rob are tying the knot next month so we went out for some fun beautiful photos before the big day (including great weather and an amazing sunset) I can’t wait for their wedding (North Chapel and Tom Ham’s Lighthouse) but it was great to get together for a little while and just have fun! They are one of those couples that makes you feel like they really care to get to know you which is always a pleasure. Looking forward to next month!

Soooo…Yeah. This one rocked. I met up with Lisa and Justin at the Lodge at Torrey Pines and we embarked on our amazing journey/hike to the Torrey Pines trails of which, sadly, I have never been even though I’ve lived in San Diego my whole life!!!!. Anyway, we started at the trails and finished on the beach with an amazingly clear sky. We had a great time getting to know each other further and occasionally trespassing Looking forward to the wedding guys!

Lara and I go way back. Seriously, Waaay back..To grade school! Thankfully in the small world of Point Loma, we still stay connected! She’s getting married next month and we went to Sunset Cliffs for some killer sunset photos..duh! A lovely day and a happy couple make for great shots! Looking forward to next month guys!

Rilla and Ryan are tying the knot this October so we went out to a couple great San Diego locations for a quick engagement session. They dressed up a little for the occasion which I loved because it always looks great to juxtapose the beauty of nice threads with the rawness of the outdoors! What a beautiful night!

I LOVED this session! Jenn and John were referred by another wedding photographer that I’ve gotten to know in Arizona. These two drove all the way down from Long Beach to meet with me on a Saturday morning …. that right there is dedication. I knew that they were serious about their photography when they made it that much of a priority.
The engagement session was in Long Beach …. which is an area I actually hadn’t spent much time in. I got their early to scout it out, and I really fell in love with Long Beach’s downtown scene. During the session, we started off at the beach, and it quickly became apparent how laidback and fun loving Jenn and John were. I had them running through seagulls and climbing onto walls the whole time
Shooting in the downtown area was also really exciting. Although we weren’t able to get “the fountain shot (we’re going to do it on the wedding day instead), there are a lot of great angles and backdrops.  Don’t these two clean up nice?  October is going to be great!!!

One of the most amazing and fun weddings I’ve ever been a part of was Jackie and Brian’s, back in 2006. Since then, we’ve gone on to become good friends with them, and Jackie has actually moved into wedding photography as a career! Jen is her sister, and so I have no doubts that this will also be an amazing wedding!

Jen and Josh are yin and yang. Jen is bright, vibrant, and outgoing. Josh is calm, contemplative, and reassuring. Together, they make up the perfect balance. We went downtown for their engagement session, where the two first met … Jimmy Loves! Josh was working there, and Jen stopped in with a bunch of her girlfriends. The rest, as they say, is history

In addition to Jimmy Loves, we wandered all over downtown, shooting against all the urban backdrops Can’t wait for this one in November!

This week we used Yelp to find good, “cheap eats” and drove down to Alfaron in El Cajon. It’s a small place, but with great family style service. The main waiter introduced himself to us and was more than happy to go over the entire menu, plate by plate to make sure we understood what everything was. We took his advice and opted for most of the signature dishes of Lebanese food. Josie had the Falafel with hummus, Jared, Zimmer and Kaitlin had the Chicken Tawook which was chicken, garlic paste and olives baked over a flat bread with cheese which was absolutely fantastic! Eder had the Soujouk which was a flat bread but with Armenian style ground beef and spices. We also tried some of their classic “salad” the yogurt, mint and cucumber side dish as well as an appetizer of the Baba Ghannouj which is similar to hummus but made with eggplant, very yummy with a side of flat bread for dipping! Bronson and Josie also tried to sparkling berry soda as well as the Zaatar oven baked flat bread covered in spices. We all split a piece of their freshly home made dessert! It was a great lunch with amazing customer service, we all would love to go back here!

So have you ever been to the Griffith Observatory in Hollywood? This was my second time, and each time I’m amazed by the views. You can see a 270 degree view of the LA Basin, from the Hollywood sign to Santa Monica, past USC and the Coliseum, and over to downtown LA and beyond. And the Observatory … what amazing architecture! It has this gorgeous green hue that photographs so well
And Ani and Raz, what a cool couple! I had met Ani several times, but never Raz.  Eder photographed Ani’s bridal shower over the weekend, while Bronson and I photographing a Napa Wedding.  Looking through those pictures prior to the engagement session got me really excited for the photo shoot.  As it turns out, he and I are very similar in many ways. These two are getting married in a month and are going to have a pretty sweet wedding
Its hard for me to decide on my favorite shot here, but I love the silhouette of them against the blue sky, and the sunset images. Congrats you two – can’t wait for the wedding!

‘Tis the season for engagement sessions! Maggie and Jeff decided on using a couple of the best locations San Diego has to offer for their engagement session! We started at a park and then headed to Coronado for the rest of the session – we got a good variety of light since we started early and finished after sunset! Every engagement session is an opportunity for us to have fun, do something new and really enjoy some time with our couples – I am so happy to have been able to spend some time with Micah and Ari, especially at the awesome locations we hit up and with their enthusiasm for doing something fresh. We had a blast and got some great images from all over inland San Diego. Micah and Ari will be tying the knot next year and I can’t wait. I’ve known Micah for years now and it is always really cool to get to know the future husbands/wives of your friends!
