Back in June I got the joy of shooting Veronica and Oscar’s wedding. They got married at The Bay Front Hilton, which in my opinion is the coolest looking building in the Downtown Skyline. After their ceremony we walked over towards the Gaslamp and got some A-W-E-Someee photos!

I know, I know …. we’ve been saying this a lot lately. But we really mean it!!!

This one was special for Bronson and I. Jason is a fellow wedding photographer, and good friend of ours. There really is no greater honor as a wedding photographer than to be asked to shoot another wedding photographer’s wedding (and I just used the word “wedding” three times in one sentence)! Not only is Jason an amazing photographer, but he has turned into a great friend of ours. Over the years, aside from shooting a bunch together, we’ve traveled through Ireland and Costa Rica together. Jason and I attend the same church – Flood – and really do have a lot in common.
So when Alexis entered the picture a few years ago, needless to say I was very very excited. The first time I ever heard of her was during a trip we took to shoot the New Orleans wedding of Jennifer and George. He spent the better part of our free time chatting on the phone with her! Jason is never one to pass up free time in a new and fun place, so I knew this girl had to be special. Turns out I was right – not only was Jason really into her, but she is a super amazing girl.
Alexis and Jason choose to have a Nashville wedding, since that’s where Alexis is from. They treated their guests to a Plantation-style wedding, with a Mexican twist of tacos and margaritas Such a cool way to blend the Southern, Nashville culture with the San Diego cuisine.
This was a crazy week of weather. The plane Bronson and I took into Nasvhille ended up landing THROUGH a tornado …. We were dodging thunderstorms all wedding day long, but ended up with amazing light. Literally, just as we stepped into the reception, the sky’s opened up and it started pouring! We left Nashville just before the crazy flooding hit that wiped out much of the region. All in all, we were very lucky.
This wedding was packed with raw emotion. I love all of the little moments, intent glances, and drawn out stares that Alexis and Jason had with eachother. Here’s to our first Nashville wedding photography experience!

I have been dying to blog about this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our own Jacob Willis got married last month in Fresno. Eder and I had the distinct pleasure and honor of being the ones to shoot with them on their incredibly awesome wedding day. From top to bottom, start to finish, every detail was beautiful and fitted their personalities and styles perfectly. Since they are photographers, I knew I had to deliver the goods. We brought some lights for extra radicalness too…I do have to admit that their ceremony was the most emotional one I’ve ever shot. I will blame it on the music but, I almost lost it in the middle of the ceremony several times. The home where they had their reception was incredible and a really fun environment. The day after the wedding, we took a drive to Yosemite for a day-after session with them and BLEW.IT.UP! Love you guys!

The ebb and flow of album season always amazes me. July is right when our clients start to pick all their images for their albums and I get start designing. I love designing albums. With each album spread I start with a blank page and let the pictures determine what the page ends up looking like. Here are a few spreads from one of Jared’s clients album, I am so excited to see the final product!

What a unique session! This was probably the grayest of the “June-Gloom” days that we had this year. As I was sitting and thinking about how to shoot this engagement session, I wanted to create some images that showed the moodiness of the weather. We brought along some lighting for the shoot, and I’m really impressed with how dynamic the images turned out. They definitely have an incredible mood to them!
Marineh and Shant are a very fun couple. They each have a strong Armenian background, and they’re wedding day is going to reflect their family’s culture. I’m really excited to be shooting this one, as it will be my first Armenian wedding (and I’m told they’re a blast!). I first met Marineh through her bridal website Harsanik that she started for Armenian brides many years ago.

They just came in recently and had some awesome ideas about how to incorporate their engagement photography into their wedding …. I can’t wait to see it play out.

As a photographer, you’re constantly living your daily life “seeing” photos. You’ll be driving on a street, or out for a walk with the dog. Maybe in your backyard, or while at the beach. It doesn’t matter – you’re always seeing little angles, great backgrounds, or really unique light. This has been happening to me every time I drive down the 52 along Rose Canyon. It has these really cool rolling hills, gorgeous yellow grass, and awesome backlight!
Katie and Cameron were up for trying their engagement session at a place they had never been before! I love when my couples totally trust me, and give me a chance to explore something new and creative. We had such a good time running through the weeds, taking all sorts of pictures. When you’re in the canyon, you completely forget that you’re in the middle of a huge city. If it weren’t for the freeway noise, you wouldn’t even know you weren’t in the mountains.
Katie and Cameron met at San Diego State University, and so we had to do some engagement photos on campus. I hadn’t been on campus in quite a few years (even though I live only a few minutes away). There is some gorgeous architecture on the campus!
I actually just shot their wedding on Friday, so stay tuned for some wedding images soon!!!

What a treat to be the first guest blogger on the Bauman Blog! I was excited to receive a text from my associate, JP, late Tuesday night informing me that we had been invited to join in on this week’s Bauman Photographers “Team Lunch.” Little did I know we would be meeting the team at the one and only, Phil’s BBQ! JP can attest to the fact that I pretty much had a little freak out session when I found out. I guess I should preface this a little and say, I’m kind of serious about my food! I have wanted to try Phil’s for so long, but I happen to live in Carlsbad and very rarely make it down to the Point Loma area. So not only was I going to be among fantastic company, I had me some succulent and savory BBQ in my future!
But alas, decisions decisions… What to order? With a line that wrapped around the building, there was plenty of time to decide before approaching the register. I’ve heard quite a few people give me a hard time for not ordering Phil’s famous ribs (lucky for me JP shares), but I just could not seem to take my eyes away from the Broham Sandwich and a small side of Baked Beans. Honestly… BBQ heaven! Now I know why all the big fuss. The pulled pork sandwich smothered in Phil’s sweet and tangy secret sauce was addicting!
Thank you Bauman for inviting JP and me to join you! I previously had the opportunity to meet Eder and Jared last summer when Wayne Foster Entertainment hosted A Day at the Races for some of our good friends in the industry, but it was really nice to meet the rest of the team! Jacob, thank you for sharing your amazing onion rings! And Eder, you are in big trouble if a photo of me with BBQ-saucy fingers devouring my sandwich surfaces… I’m not kidding!

On Monday night I shot an engagement session with a couple that loves the fair. This year they made 4 visits to the fair and loved every moment of it! I wanted to share this one shot that we got around 8:15pm with all the beautiful lights of the fair. Although I came home with a tummy ache from the deep fried food, I came home excited about the awesome images.

We just shot Kristen and Dave’s wedding last weekend, and I realized that I had never blogged about their engagement session! Shame on me ….
We spent some time in Coronado, shooting along the beach in front of the Hotel Del Coronado. Then capped the night at the Imperial House. Kristen and Dave went on their first date their, and really wanted to incorporate this spot into their engagement session. I’ll post some wedding images here soon …. a lot quicker than it took me to post their engagement session

When I met with Jenna and Brandon for the first time, we discovered that we had a few fun things in common – although I had graduated from Point Loma High long before they did, that is where they started their beautiful relationship. Since then, so many great things have happened in their lives that has culminated in a beautiful winery wedding. They held the wedding at South Coast winery and brought in some really amazing vendors to make it all happen; Events By Design coordinated and Dj’d, Willem-Aidan created florals, Concepts Event Design provided linens etc, Jenna’s Lazaro gown was INCREDIBLE (especially on her), and The vineyard was of course a really great place to shoot it all. A big thanks to Sara France for shooting with me!!!
