This weeks Bauman Lunch we found a pretty cool place for lunch.  Super Cocina is a place that you might not even notice.  I have drove past it many times and never took a second look, but I’m glad we went there for lunch this week because it is definitely worth a look.

This place can look a little confusing when you first walk in to it.  I had no idea where to start.  But in no time the friendly staff was pointing me in the right direction.  Their menu consists of a lot of great traditional Mexican dishes.  If you are not familiar with Mexican cuisine, it can look a little strange.  But the staff walk us through the options and gave us samples to help make our decisions.

The food was great!!  It was so flavorful.  I can’t wait to go back and since the food was so inexpensive, I’m sure we’ll be back soon!

It’s not often that in San Diego, we find a new place for photography. But, I had been yearning to shoot at the Salk Institute for quite awhile and finally had the chance! That place is incredible. Aaron is graduating from High School this year and he wanted something a little different. He’s the quiet/serious type so the location and weather suited him pretty well

Ashley and Cameron are one of those couple who just make you smile. Ashley is a sweet Texas girl who as you can tell loves pink, her family (including her dogs), working out, and of course, her studly groom Cameron.
I was so honored to shoot this wedding and the amazing details that Ashley and Cameron put together worked so well at L’Auberge..It looked better than ever!
The wedding was intimate, adorable, and a great time for all of their guests, most of them being from out of town.
Any time the dance floor has feather boas, crazy sunglasses and inflatable guitars, it is sure to be a good time
What a killer wedding!

I had the great fortune of being involved again with the Art of Fashion this year and I was definitely impressed again with the amazing designs the amateur designers created! The event is based on the designers being assigned a painting in the gallery and then creating a design inspired by that painting. The best part is the models showing off the great works and having an extra excuse to enjoy the gallery!
This year, a former America’s Next Top Model winner was the special guest as well as some of the usual supporters and fashion celebs. Makes me want to “get my fashion shoot on”!!!

We use Yelp all the time. Whenever we are looking for our next Bauman Lunch spot, it is a great way to find new places. If you are not familiar with an area, it is a good way to get a quick glimpse at what is around, and what might be good. In looking for a wedding photographer though, is it really the best idea?
I saw a story on the Better Business Bureau recently on 60 minutes or Dateline, or one of those shows where they uncover the dirty secrets of a company you would never know had such dirty laundry. B.B.B, Yelp, they seem harmless enough right? Not so much. B.B.B was found to have positively altered business profiles SIGNIFICANTLY after businesses signed up AND PAID to become a BBB accredited business – releasing positive reviews and withholding negative ones. I have an inkling that Yelp is the same way…
Time for full disclosure; we had a total of 19 reviews on Yelp. They decided with their “computer automated algorithm” that only 2 of them were worth showing; one from one of our favorite and happiest brides, and one of the 2 non five-star reviews we had. A one star review from a client who denied help, lied about her situation with us, and had only reviewed ONE company in her life. Us.
Since this revelation, we have changed our business name on Yelp in an attempt to not show up since they DO NOT ALLOW COMPANIES TO REMOVE THEIR BUSINESS LISTING. Is that even legal?
Can you tell we are fired up?
IT GETS EVEN CRAZIER. I changed our business name so we wouldn’t be found on Yelp and they put everything back and LOCKED IT. We are not allowed to update our business information.

Jared and Bronson of Bauman Photographers were ah-ma-zing! Honestly, I can not imagine having anyone else shoot our wedding or be a part of our day. They were TRULY professional and fun the whole time, and the pictures were even better than we had imagined.

I think my favorite part of working with Bauman, besides the product, was how they handled the wedding day. They were really great to me throughout the day, completely understand that I was the bride and that I was there to be with my friends and family, not catering to the vendors. They handled everything with ease, and captured beautiful moments without any of us having any idea they were even in the room!

I saw some negative comments about Pictage and about their receptionist… we didn’t have any of those problems, although I will say Pictage is kind of slow sometimes, and the prints were fairly pricey. I didn’t mind that much, I compared the reprint prices to other photographers’ around town and they seemed pretty similar.

Anyway, I recommend Bauman to everyone I know that is looking for a photographer for ANYTHING. They are great and fun and the product is definitely worth it!

Jared was the only photographer we interviewed and we hired him that same day for our wedding. Him and his “photography family” are some of the nicest guys you will ever meet. From our first meeting, he made me feel comfortable and I instantly knew that having him taking pictures at our wedding would be a blast. He was always easy and fun to work with and I absolutely love our engagement and wedding pictures. I remember Jared saying that the best compliment you could give him was to say that “you don’t even remember him being there” and that is EXACTLY what happened. There were so many amazing shots that I was shocked he was around to get… he totally understands that the bride is there to be with her family and friends and just wants that naturally captured. We had a family reunion in June in San Diego. Not knowing any professional Photographers, I did some research, and picked Bauman. I was NOT disappointed. Bronson was great. We had wonderful posed and candid photos. He was even able to coax the best out of our 4 yr. old grandson who was having a meltdown. The entire family was pleased with all the photos.
I would highly recommend Bauman and Bronson if you have a need for a professional photographer in San Diego. We also thought that the prices were great. We WILL use them again when we have another reunion in San Diego.

Wedding days can be very stressful for the bride/groom and families. Bronson and his colleague worked very well with us despite all of the stress and time constraints. They had exceptional patience.

I highly recommend pre-wedding photos on the day of the wedding. It’s a chance for you and your soon to be husband to have a private photo session and a private moment prior to all of the husstle and busstle of the wedding event. The photographers let you have your moment and sit back and photograph you with out you even knowing they are there. It’s a great way to capture that first sighting of your soon to be spouse! And to have that special moment captured is amazing.

Jared Bauman is the most dedicated, professional and passionate photographer you can find! He came all the way to Australia for our wedding in December, and we were so pleased he did! What can I say?!?! The work that Bauman does is definitely worth more than a thousand words! We knew Jared was unbelievably talented when we first met him, but when it came time to taking our engagement photos, I couldn’t believe how many fabulous shots he got within a short time!

Bauman photographers are fantastic! From start to finish, we had a great experience. We were planning our wedding from long-distance – Jared was very accommodating of our schedules and was always available to discuss details, concerns, etc. He was professional, down-to-earth, and enthusiastic, which made our wedding day that much better. The “ice breaker” was our engagement photo session with Jared. This allowed us to get to know him and for him to get to know my husband (another Jared) as well. In the words of our own Mr. Eder Escamilla, “Ta Daow!!”. This wedding rocked our socks off. Diana and Jonathan are one of those couples that warm your heart just by being around them. They are goofy with each other, quite cute to watch and they evidently love to host amazing events for their friends and family..all 400 of them!
Diana was a coordinator at a wedding I photographed a few years ago and we’ve managed to see each other around and keep in touch since then. When it came to planning her own wedding, thankfully I ended up on her list
The ceremony was at her church and was a warm and intimate ceremony – after that, the cocktail hour at the Omni got all the guests off to a great start for the KICK A** reception that followed. Thanks to this wedding, I certainly look forward to shooting at the Omni more!
After some great dances, toasts and an amazing dinner, the fog machine, lasers and lights got people out on the dance floor for the rest of the night!

Another AMAZING L’auberge wedding for the books! Carrie and Matthew had so many family come to San Diego from all over which I am sure was such a treat for them since the venues they picked really show of the best parts of San Diego!
Carrie and Matthew were so easy to work with, I think we all kinda forgot we were working. The weather was great, the wedding party was a blast to be around, Wayne Foster KILLED it at the reception with amazing music including some country music which I was quite happy to hear, everything was just..wow.
